Economic cross-efficiency

چکیده
This paper introduces a series of new concepts under the name Economic Cross-Efficiency, which is rendered operational through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) techniques. To achieve this goal, from theoretical perspective, we connect two key topics in efficiency literature that have been unrelated until now: economic and cross-efficiency. In particular, it shown that, input (output) homotheticity, traditional bilateral notion cross-efficiency for unit l, when weights an alternative counterpart k are used evaluation, coincides with well-known Farrell cost (revenue) evaluated l as market prices. motivates introduction concept Cross-Efficiency (FCE) based upon Farrell's efficiency. One advantage FCE well defined Variable Returns to Scale (VRS), yielding scores between zero one natural way, thereby improving its standard counterpart. complete analysis extend Nerlovian cross-inefficiency (NCI), on dual relationship profit inefficiency directional distance function. Finally, illustrate models recently compiled dataset European warehouses.

Interval Efficiency Assessment in Network Structure Based on Cross –Efficiency
As we know, in evaluating of DMUs some of them might be efficient, so ranking of them have a high significant. One of the ranking methods is cross-efficiency. Cross efficiency evaluation in data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a commonly used skill for ranking decision making units (DMUs). Since, many studies ignore the intra-organizational communication and consider DMUs as a black box. For sign...

متن کاملMonopoly, economic efficiency and unemployment
a r t i c l e i n f o The objective of this paper is to analyze the efficiency consequences of monopoly from the perspective of an efficiency-wage model of unemployment based on Shapiro and Stiglitz (1984). An important feature of our model is that a firm can raise the probability that a shirking worker is detected by increasing its effort or investment in the monitoring of workers. Using this ...
متن کاملHospital closure and economic efficiency.
We present a new framework for assessing the effects of hospital closures on social welfare and the local economy. While patient welfare necessarily declines when patients lose access to a hospital, closures also tend to reduce costs. We study five hospital closures in two states and find that urban hospital bailouts reduce aggregate social welfare: on balance, the cost savings from closures mo...
متن کاملEcological pricing and economic efficiency
There is a need to accurately account for the contributions of environmental assets to the overall economy. Such accounting would permit policies that allow protection of important natural resources and aid the analytic process to determine an accurate basis for a sustainable economy. The aim is to develop an accounting framework for ecology that is sufficiently consistent with the economic fra...
